1 Peter 5:8-9 (New International Version)
8Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

BE SELF-CONTROLLED AND ALERT.

One thing that will always and will never stop messing around with us is MUSIC. Did you know that music was created for GOD. SATAN (a worship leader) distorted music. Look at all the music these days. Read the lyrics to the songs. You might be saying, “kuya, whats wrong with these songs?” You see there’s nothing wrong with these songs. Majority of the songs are love songs and there’s not wrong with love songs. However we have to keep asking ourselves about these songs. How do these songs make me feel when I listen to them. Are these songs distracting me? Are they bringing me anywhere closer to God? What is the meaning of this song? If you look at many of the songs these days, the lyrics SOMEWHAT make sense.. but the music video does not match at all. A lot of music is very subliminal. That is SATANS way of drawing us in. He will slowly drag you in through BEATS, tempos, tunes where you suddenly find yourself tapping your foot or singing along.

MAIN POINT: LET’S WATCH OUT WITH WHAT WE LISTEN TO.

1 Samuel 16:15
Saul’s advisors said, “This awful tormenting depression from God is making your life miserable. O Master, let us help. Let us look for someone who can play the harp. When the black mood from God moves in, he’ll play his music and you’ll feel better.”

background: during this chapter, GOD sent out Samuel to Jesse of Bethlehem to annoint someone there. Samuel found the one there whom God wanted and his name was DAVID. DAVID was a musician. David was brought back to play music for Saul hence the verse.

A question for you: what kind of music do you always listen to?

For almost two years now, I have gotten used to listening to ONLY CHRISTIAN MUSIC. I only SOMETIMES listen to worldly music and those times are mostly unintentional. If GOD asked us to play music that would make him feel better, what kind of music would you play? Remember our GOD listens to us all the time; so what is always playing on your computer or on your ipod?

You might be saying that this is going to far.. but it’s true. Music is something God created BUT it has been distorted by SATAN (a worship leader). Whatever kind of music you are listening to, is it bringing you closer to GOD? You see i’m not saying that love songs or rap songs are BAD but you also have to remember that it’s not bringing you anywhere closer to God.

Try to listen to CHRISTIAN songs for a day. Make it a habit. Listen to B Reith! haha

“You ask and you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.” - James 4:3

STORY: A man was late for a job interview because he couldn’t find any place to park. As he circled the block one more time, he cried out, “Please God. This interview is so important. If you will provide a parking space, I’ll be on the front row of the church every week!” Just as he spoke those words, a space opened right in front of him. “Oh, never mind,” he said. “I found one.”

HAHAHA.. this man somewhat represents many of US with our prayer lives. Our God tells us to pray for our daily needs. However, many of us get confused with what we NEED and what we WANT. ya feel me? Many times, we get so caught up in our prayer to GOD about what we WANT; it’s almost like we’re USING God to get what we want. That is horrible.

Is God going to give you everything you ask for? No. Loving parents don’t give their children everything they see in a toy store, in the same with our GOD. Our God is not a genie who says that our wish is his command. NO. James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.”

We have to continue to pray for WHAT WE NEED. We will always pray to GOD for things we WANT. Now the question is, are we praying for the things we need? There is one person who knows what we need. GOD knows what we need. We should be asking GOD to give us whatever is best for us! God knows what’s best for us. Let’s ask GOD what HE “WANTS” for us.

2 Peter 1:3, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 

WOW.. how are the CYN doing today? It’s been thirty days of devo Challenge :) I really hope and pray that everyone is still trying to catch up. Remember you don’t have to always do you devo on tumblr. You can always do it without your computer, then later post it on tumblr! Well, this verse spoke to me simply because I’m just so grateful for what GOD has been doing to me AND ESPECIALLY TO YOU this year. It’s just so amazing eh? Well what do I mean by ESPECIALLY YOU?.. it’s because I’m so blessed with the way the CYN has been serving GOD. You can see that there is still passion left in us. We are more on fire for GOD than ever. It also showed at our annointing service ! YEAAAAAAh haha . Well this verse spoke to me because it’s true. God already gave us everything we need in our life. We just have to look around us. He has given what we need to keep going. He has given us the strength. He has given us FRIENDS! He has given us our MAMAS,PAPAS, BROTHERS AND SISTERS! He has given us the chance to talk to him whenever we want. He has given us his WORD. He has given us JIL & CYN! most importantly.. he has taught us something these past few months.. remember? The question is.. are we still doing what we promised to God at our camp?

This verse encouraged me and I really hope it encourages you too! He has blessed us with so many things this year; All of that includes more knowledge and wisdom about him. Let’s just continue to take all of that in once again and get back to the point of what we need to do. We need to get back to giving him the glory. Let’s keep using everything God has given us to grow spiritually. Go to your fellow CYN MATES. Make relationships with them! Make sure they’re there to help you grow spiritually too! Use the bible verses you were given. Go back to the camp topics: PURITY, RADICALNESS, SIGNIFICANT.. use them as your reminder. Go back to all of that so that you may remember and go back to goal. It is one way we may continue to grow spiritually. The Lord didn’t give us all that for no reason.. so let’s use it for his glory. Let’s continue to grow not just physically but spiritually more importantly.

Ephesians 4:16

From whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

WhOOOOOOOOO TODAY WAS JIL BC’S 20TH ANNIVERSARY!!!! YEEEEE AMEN HALLEJUAH AND A PRAISE GOD TO THAT.

well all I have to say is that this anniversary and the banquet was a success !

EVIDENTLY, WE ALL WORKED HAND IN HAND TO MAKE THE ANNIVERSARY WHAT IT WAS. AND TRULY GOD DID HIS CRAZINESS IN THAT PLACE!

In ANY situation .. when you’re working with people, each person.. or each group needs to be in cooperation. Each section needs to be prepared. Each part needs to be working properly; a mess in one section is a mess for all.

As CYN, as one body, we need to be equipped at all times. Whether we are a boy or girl, 12 or 30, short or tall.. we must work together in order for this cyn to grow. The verse tells us that when each part is working properly.. it makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. I hope that whatever ministry you may be in.. you do the best you for GOD. Whether you feel like it may be making a difference or not in the ministry of GOD, believe me.. it is. Each and every single one of us plays an important role in the expansion of God’s kingdom.

I don’t know what ministry you’re in, but i hope and pray that we continue to do our best and to give it our all the way we did at this anniversary. Continue to encourage each other guys ! Tell your friends to keep going. Tell the people you see falling to get back up. Help them to their feet. Make their problem your problem. Be there for one another.

I just hope and pray that this year will continue to be a significant impact and that the CYN will do their part in the making. LORD.. may you continue to bind each and every CYN with the love that cannot be broken.

TALKIN ABOUT STRENGTH YO ..

yenno those days when you are just so exhausted .. that all you want to do is sleep and do nothing else but that ? sometimes, you even have to go to church DURING the times you want to SLEEP. haha, well i’ve learned something recently that i believe happens to us all. THE VERSE says that the JOY of the Lord is your STRENGTH.

Everytime I go to church when i’m tired.. i always ask GOD to wake me up because i don’t want to be sa church half heartedly. Well God answers that prayer everytime. We had the annointing service today and I just have to say that before i went there.. i was extremely tired. Well it’s amazing how much energy you can have when you are in the presence of the LORD and when your mind and heart is in tuned with him. TRULY, the joy of the LORD was my strength. TRULY the joy of the LORD was OUR STRENGTH!

Let’s just say that when you’re tired.. and then you choose to worship and sing for your GOD, YOU JUST DON’T FEEL ANY OF IT AT ALL.

“…let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another …” - Hebrews 10:23-25

Billy Graham once said: “Being in church no more makes you a Christian than being in a garage makes you a car.” So, the answer is, “No,” you do not have to go to church to be a Christian, BUT ATTENDING CHURCH serves a huge purpose in the life of us CHRISTIANS AND DEFINITELY helps us CYN GROW STRONGER.
 
While you don’t have to come to church to be a Christian, not attending church still retards your spiritual growth. We miss out on so many things when we don’t attend church. One time.. I asked myself that if I would stop going to church but promise to GOD i would keep in touch with him in my devotions.. would that be okay? AND i believe GOD was telling me not to be selfish. Each of us have something in us to share to the other believers. Each of us has a talent GOD wants us to use in church. 

You don’t need to be in CHURCH to be a CHRISTIAN but it is still the place you need to be and it is the place where CHRISTIANS should WANT to be at yo !

“…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:20b

hmm.. have you ever gone through a hardship or trial in your life where you felt like it was just getting worse and worse because it SEEMED LIKE GOD was not there for you? I know we have all felt like that; Especially if we’re always calling on our God.

The disciples with through this a very similar situation. Remember, Jesus told them take their boat to sea while he would stay back to pray. Then suddenly, there was a storm and the disciples had to face it for couple.. several hours before Jesus made an epic entrance and showed up to comfort them. You remember this story right? Well the question is.. Why didn’t Jesus show up right away when they needed him?

Well the bible says that his thoughts are higher ways. his ways are higher than our ways. WE NEVER KNOW what GOD will do in any situation. We do not know how he thinks. Sometimes.. God will come right away to the rescue and sometimes, he’ll let us go through it to test our faith. BUT THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS THAT when he does choose to let us go through it, he’s not letting us go through it alone. He did not let the disciples go through that alone. THAT’s WHY IT MAY SEEM LIKE WE’RE ALONE IN OUR PROBLEMS BUT WE SHOULD KNOW THAT WE ARE NOT. GOD IS VERY MUCH THERE BESIDE US. That’s where our faith kicks in. Whether it seems like he’s there or not.. we should keep believing. We should wait on him.

GOD will never leave our side. HE WOULD NEVER DO THAT! Know that GOD is beside you in every problem you will face. He’s beside you when you are going through rejection. When you are going through physical pain or emotional pain, he’s there with you.. even when it doesn’t seem like it.

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good for those that love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” - Romans 8:28

We have to learn to read the scriptures carefully. For example, the Bible doesn’t say that money is the root of all evil; it says the love of money is the root of all sorts of evil. Jonah was swallowed by a big fish; it never says a whale. And Eve ate the forbidden fruit; it never says an apple. (correct me if i’m wrong.) Likewise, God does not guarantee that all things just work together for good. Do you think for people in hell things have worked out for their good? He declares that all things work together for good “for those that love God and are called according to His purpose.”

READ THIS VERSE AGAIN: things don’t just work out for good just like that. GOD doesn’t cause everything to work out for good just like that. THERE’S A CONDITION IN THIS ONE. A HUGE “IF”. GOD causes all things to work together for good .. FOR THOSE WHO LOVE GOD ! Many people think that their life will just work out for good because they know God but it’s way more than that. We need to LOVE GOD. We need to follow him. We need to listen to him. We need to trust him. We need to live for him .. THEN THINGS WILL DEFINITELY WORK OUT FOR GOOD.

Going on with the verse: Let’s continue to look for the GOOD that we can do for GOD. Let’s continue to follow the good that GOD is. Let’s live that way. Let’s TRY OUR BEST. It’s been a month since camp.. how are we doing now? Are we still talking to GOD? Are we still following him? Well I encourage you cyn not to give up. DONT GIVE UP ! DONT GIVE UP ! If we continue to serve him and follow him.. he will make all these things in our life work out for good! We just have to keep following him. I believe that we are CYN.. CHRISTIANS for a reason. We are called according to his purpose. There’s a reason why we’ve all gone this far. There’s a reason why we are in CYN, why we go to church, why we had the camp, we why do our devotions.. and we just have to keep going to see why GOD has set all this up for us.

DONT GIVE UP CYN . keep going, it’s all for GOD . love you all .
